22nd Annual Daily Trust Dialogue Communiqué 2025

The topic of today’s 22nd Annual Daily Trust Dialogue is “Food Security: Availability or Affordability.”

Abbas Tajudeen, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, will lead other prominent figures in brainstorming sessions on the key elements influencing the mass production, processing, and distribution of food in Nigeria at the NAF Conference Centre & Suites in Abuja.

The Speaker has confirmed his presence as the Special Guest of Honour, according to a press release issued by Ahmed I. Shekarau, CEO of the Media Trust Group.

According to the release, this year’s Dialogue will be chaired by Rev. Fr. Godfrey Nzamujo, the founder and director general of Songhai Farms, which is headquartered in the Benin Republic.

The guest speakers will be three distinguished individuals with backgrounds in a variety of agricultural fields who will discuss the many measures Nigeria must take to eradicate the hunger that threatens millions of its people.

Among these figures is Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, the Minister of Livestock Development. Prior to his present position by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Maiha managed the Zaidi Farm, a sizable poultry and dairy farm in Kaduna.

Ms. Mira Mehta, a seasoned executive in the consumer packaged goods and agricultural sectors of the economy, is also one of the guest speakers. According to the statement, Ms Mehta co-founded Tomato Jos, which she currently serves as CEO of.

Architect Kabir Ibrahim, the National President of the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), will be the third guest speaker.

Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago, the farmer governor of Niger State; Senator Abubakar Kyari, the minister of agriculture and food security; the chairmen and members of the Senate and House of Representatives agriculture committees; and Mrs. Saadiya Aminu, managing director of Urban Shelter, are among the other dignitaries anticipated at the 22nd Dialogue.

The event is open to the public and is anticipated to include former state governors, the president and members of the Feed Industry Practitioners Association of Nigeria (FIPAN), chairmen and members of various market associations, small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) from throughout the nation, members of civil society organisations, development partners, and diplomats, according to the statement.

The announcement further revealed that Alhaji Wada Abdullahi Kachako, the 2024 Daily Trust Unsung Hero award winner, will be presented alongside this year’s dialogue.

The announcement further disclosed that the event will be streamed live on YouTube, Trust Radio, NigComSat’s Free TV, Moreplex 715, AVO TV, LIMEX World TV, and Trust Television, which is available on StarTimes Channel 164.

One of the Media Trust Group’s contributions to promoting national and, in fact, African integration and cohesion—both of which are essential for the long-term sociopolitical and economic development of Nigeria and the African Continent overall—is the yearly Daily Trust Dialogue.
